U.S. Launches B-2 Stealth Bombers to Strike Iran’s Nuclear Sites
In an unprecedented military escalation, US President Donald Trump announced that U.S. forces conducted precision airstrikes against Iran's key nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—marking the first direct American bombing of Iranian territory under his administration.

🎯 Operation Overview
U.S. B‑2 Spirit stealth bombers deployed Massive Ordnance Penetrators (30,000‑pound “bunker-buster” bombs) targeting the Fordow facility beneath a mountain. Six bombs struck Fordow, and additional bombs were used at Natanz. Tomahawk cruise missiles—approximately 30—launched from submarines hit Natanz and Isfahan. The deployment caught international observers off-guard. B-2s left Whiteman AFB in Missouri late Friday, then crossed the Pacific toward Iran—contradicting earlier public comments that action would come “within two weeks”.
In a national address late Saturday (EDT), Trump declared the mission a “very successful” and “spectacular military success,” stating, “Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated”. He emphasized that all aircraft returned safely and issued a stark warning: “ANY RETALIATION BY IRAN… WILL BE MET WITH FORCE FAR GREATER THAN WHAT WAS WITNESSED TONIGHT”.
Trump framed the strikes as a bid for peace: "Now is the time for peace," but cautioned, "There will either be peace or there will be tragedy for Iran".
The strikes were coordinated with Israel. Prime Minister Netanyahu hailed the U.S. move as “historic,” praising the “awesome and righteous might” of American power.
Military Significance
The use of GBU‑57 MOPs via B‑2s underscores the seriousness of the operation. Each B‑2 costs $2.1 billion, and its stealth capabilities enabled it to penetrate heavily defended airspace undetected.
